Foreign Company Explores Investment in Organic Fertilizer Plant in El Salvador.

In a significant move towards agricultural sustainability and food security, the foreign company NeoAgro, originating from South America, has expressed its interest in investing in El Salvador’s organic fertilizer production. The company recently made a generous donation of 100,000 liters of biofertilizers valued at over $900,000, marking a pivotal step in fostering a collaborative partnership with the Salvadoran government.

The donation was warmly received by the government, aligning with President Nayib Bukele’s commitment to ensuring food security and promoting sustainability and self-sufficiency in national agricultural production. The contribution from NeoAgro, a result of diplomatic efforts and positive relations facilitated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stands as a testament to the potential alliance between the foreign company and El Salvador.

During the official event, Richard Intriago, the CEO of NeoAgro, emphasized that this donation represents just the initial phase of their collaboration with the Salvadoran government. «We are inspired by the transformative processes taking place in El Salvador, particularly in the realm of security. That’s why we are eager to contribute to a sector of great significance,» stated Intriago.

Furthermore, Intriago revealed the company’s plans to make additional donations and establish operations in the country through a bio-plant aimed at meeting local and regional demands. «We embark on a new and significant project: the construction of a mega plant dedicated to the production of organic fertilizers in El Salvador. This effort aims to significantly boost agricultural development throughout the Central American region,» he declared.

Vice Chancellor Adriana Mira highlighted the positive impact of such initiatives on agricultural strategies, providing more opportunities to meet the dietary needs of the Salvadoran population and offering greater benefits to local producers. «This contribution strengthens our agricultural strategies, translating into more opportunities to meet the dietary needs of the population and providing additional benefits for our producers,» stated Vice Chancellor Adriana Mira during the symbolic handover ceremony.

Agriculture and Livestock Minister Óscar Guardado expressed gratitude for the company’s support, which extends beyond material donations. NeoAgro, with bases in Ecuador and Colombia, will also transfer knowledge for the application of agricultural inputs and provide training for technical teams.

The event witnessed the participation of key figures, including Karla de Palma, Director of the Salvadoran Agency for International Cooperation, Óscar Guardado, Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Adriana Mira, Vice Chancellor, and Richard Intriago, CEO of NeoAgro. The collaboration between the Salvadoran government and NeoAgro not only strengthens the agricultural sector but also signifies a step towards a more prosperous and sustainable future for regional agriculture.
