The General Directorate of Migration and Foreigners is set to launch a user-friendly digital platform aimed at simplifying passport renewal processes for Salvadorans aged 18 and above.
The newly developed Web App is designed to bring government services closer to the people, particularly benefiting those without easy access to a local branch or facing difficulties in physically retrieving their passports.
“Migration and Foreigners stand out on the Latin American stage for the speed with which we issue and deliver passports, without the need for an appointment. The population is pleased with the immediacy and quality of our service,” affirmed the Director of Migration and Foreigners.
Starting today, the Government of El Salvador activates the new Web App for online passport renewal: http://pasaporteenlinea.migracion.gob.sv. This achievement is the result of months of extensive research and hard work, according to the director.
One noteworthy feature is that users can select the digital photograph they prefer to be stamped on their passports, adding a personal touch to the identification document.
Moreover, applicants will have the option to collect their renewed passports from any of the conveniently located branches. These include the central branch, Masferrer, and Soyapango in San Salvador; Cascadas and Pasatiempo in La Libertad; Usulután and San Miguel in the eastern region; and Santa Ana in the western region.
Importantly, the passport fee remains unchanged at $25, the same as it has been until today. For those opting for home delivery, an additional cost will only be incurred for the shipping.
The launch of this digital platform represents a significant step forward in leveraging technology to enhance public service accessibility and efficiency, reflecting El Salvador’s commitment to innovation in governance.
