The government of President Nayib Bukele has successfully implemented free satellite internet services in various public spaces across the country. This endeavor is a pivotal element of a national strategy aimed at promoting digital inclusivity and ensuring widespread access to connectivity.
One noteworthy milestone is the installation of satellite internet in Benjamin Bloom Park, located in the municipality of Nahuizalco, Sonsonate. Spearheaded by Secretary of Innovation Daniel Méndez, this initiative represents a substantial leap forward in terms of technology access and underscores the administration’s dedication to community development.
Addressing the gathering, Méndez stated, «Children joining us today and residents in general, we want to announce that, as of today, President Nayib Bukele is bringing free internet to Nahuizalco through the ‘Connecting El Salvador’ project. This initiative aims to bridge the digital gap, bring internet closer to the Salvadoran population, and make internet access no longer a luxury or a reserved privilege.»
Méndez shared that over 29 locations nationwide have already been connected to the Starlink network. Furthermore, he emphasized the government’s commitment to connecting a total of 100 public spaces to the aforementioned network by the end of the second semester of the next year.
«On this same day, after concluding this event, we will simultaneously activate free internet in the municipal square of San Julián. We will have two spaces in the Western region connected to free internet,» the secretary announced, urging the population to take full advantage of this resource provided by the state.
