3 de Febrero Hydroelectric Plant to Become a New Tourist Destination.

The recently inaugurated 3 de Febrero Hydroelectric Plant, located in the heart of the picturesque San Luis de La Reina, is set to transform into a thriving eco-tourism destination. The initiative has gained enthusiastic support from the Minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez, who sees the potential for sustainable rural tourism at this unique site.

Minister Morena Valdez expressed her enthusiasm about this remarkable venture and its potential impact on the tourism sector. She mentioned that the artificial lake formed by the 3 de Febrero Hydroelectric Plant, unveiled by President Bukele just yesterday, offers a fantastic opportunity for both Salvadorans and international travelers to engage in sustainable rural tourism.

«The 3 de Febrero Hydroelectric Plant – it was great news from President Bukele yesterday. It makes us proud to be part of this team because this accomplishment is unprecedented. We are determined to make the most of this reservoir for tourism activities,» stated the minister.

Furthermore, Minister Valdez urged all stakeholders interested in promoting tourism in the region to strike a balance between their activities and environmental conservation.

«We will be in touch with those interested in organizing tourism activities, ensuring they adhere to all the necessary environmental safeguards,» she said.

She also emphasized that sustainable rural tourism is currently a global trend, and the location of the hydroelectric plant, nestled along the Torola River in San Luis de La Reina, San Miguel, is ideal for such activities.

«The human talent within the tourism sector, along with everyone working in this field, needs to stay informed and develop a deep connection with the environment. Next month, in November, we will host the Sustainable Rural Tourism Forum, where experts will discuss the latest trends and developments in the tourism sector,» she emphasized.

Minister Valdez highlighted that this opportunity to develop the 3 de Febrero Hydroelectric Plant for tourism mirrors the successes seen in enhancing security through the Territorial Control Plan, which has paved the way for tourism across the entire nation.

«Tourism is one of the most significant contributors to employment and economic growth, benefitting various sectors,» concluded the Tourism Minister.

With its commitment to sustainable rural tourism and the idyllic location of the 3 de Febrero Hydroelectric Plant, El Salvador is poised to embrace a new era in eco-friendly travel and adventures. This initiative not only promises to create job opportunities but also to boost the nation’s economic development while preserving the natural beauty of the region.
