The Minister of Justice and Security, Gustavo Villatoro, announced the delivery of off-road vehicles that will be used by the elite forces of the National Civil Police (PNC) to continue the fight against gangs.
The official stated that the delivery of a fleet of pick-up trucks is part of the modernization of the police, which is included in the Territorial Control Plan aimed at strengthening various police units and the Armed Forces with state-of-the-art technology.
«We have invested in a fleet of cutting-edge, high-powered off-road vehicles equipped with the best in automotive technology,» the official detailed.
He added that the purpose of acquiring these vehicles is to «continue modernizing our police so that they have better resources to fulfill their mission of serving and protecting the population.»
Minister Villatoro stated, «We are no longer at the back of the class; now, we are setting the path for other police forces around the world to follow in safeguarding their citizens under the rule of law.»
To execute the third phase of the Territorial Control Plan, authorities have projected an estimated $109 million to equip law enforcement with modern equipment to achieve better results in combating crime and protecting the lives of police officers and soldiers. Of the total, $59 million has been allocated to the Police, and $50 million to the Ministry of National Defense.
