HanesBrands El Salvador, a leading US-based company with three decades of operations in the country, has been recognized for its outstanding performance and unwavering commitment to El Salvador’s economy. As the largest exporter in the country for ten consecutive years, the company’s success was celebrated yesterday by the Salvadoran Association of Industrialists (ASI), which awarded them four prestigious accolades in the textile and apparel sector.
Over the course of its operations in El Salvador, HanesBrands has invested approximately $660 million in constructing facilities, acquiring equipment for garment production, providing training, and supporting educational programs for its employees. This significant investment, which has solidified the company’s position as a major player in the country’s foreign trade, is built on the foundation of legal certainty and economic stability offered by the Salvadoran government.

“The message goes beyond the joy of achieving this award; it also addresses the state, which has an immense task: to generate political stability, economic prosperity, and legal certainty – virtues that are crucial for the country and have allowed us to continue producing and creating jobs to date,” said Lauro Pesqueira, Director of Operations for HanesBrands in El Salvador.
Navigating a challenging global economic landscape, including the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic and disruptions in worldwide container traffic, HanesBrands has implemented strategies of operational excellence. This approach has not only enabled the company to maintain its position as the leading exporter for a decade but has also fostered a 1,500% increase in commercial transactions with their primary client, the United States.
“While our production and garment manufacturing numbers respond to international demand, our operations have remained robust for over 30 years in this country. Sustaining our position as El Salvador’s top exporter for ten years has required significant commitment, teamwork, and substantial investments,” added Pesqueira.
During the 13th edition of the ranking, Eduardo Cáder, President of ASI, emphasized that this recognition honors innovative companies that generate opportunities, employment, and economic growth while showcasing their potential for further expansion.
“We are acknowledging innovative companies that lead the way, businesses that create opportunities and jobs, energizing our economy and showing immense potential for future growth,” stated Cáder.
Cáder also commended the government’s successful security strategy, which has facilitated access to critical geographical areas for businesses like HanesBrands. He highlighted the significant contribution of the Salvadoran industry to the country’s exports, accounting for 96.1% of total exports and contributing 15.5% to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
HanesBrands’ continuous success and recognition exemplify the positive impact of a stable economic and legal environment on businesses operating in El Salvador. With unwavering commitment and a focus on operational excellence, the company’s achievements serve as a testament to the potential for sustained growth and prosperity in the region.
