New Air Route between San Salvador and Madrid.

In a bid to attract investment, generate employment opportunities, and open up markets for products and services, authorities have inaugurated a new air route between San Salvador and Madrid as part of the Economic Takeoff Plan. The government officials, accompanied by representatives from Avianca airline, marked the occasion on Tuesday night, signaling the launch of this route during the peak summer season in Europe.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez, and the President of the Autonomous Executive Port Commission (CEPA), Federico Anliker. The objective behind this initiative, as stated by the authorities, is to enhance the quality of life for the population by attracting investments, creating employment opportunities, and expanding markets for products and services.

Additionally, the authorities aim to strengthen the friendship between both nations and enhance the country’s image as a tourist destination in Spain.

«This flight will operate three times a week during the high season in Europe and will depart from our international airport, San Óscar Arnulfo Romero y Galdámez, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays,» explained Anliker.

He further added, «Salvadorans now have one more airline option to travel to Europe, and more importantly, it is a direct route, which many have requested. The opening of this direct route not only facilitates the mobility of people to reunite with their loved ones but also creates economic opportunities for both countries, such as increased traveler traffic and strengthened commercial and tourist relations.»

Anliker highlighted the significant activity at the San Óscar Arnulfo Romero y Galdámez Airport, stating that it has already served 1.8 million passengers and facilitated 18,000 commercial flights since January 1st. He further mentioned that they are close to handling 12 million kilograms of cargo.

The new air route between San Salvador and Madrid is expected to contribute to the economic growth of both nations by fostering trade, tourism, and connectivity. It represents a milestone in El Salvador’s efforts to expand its international reach and position itself as an attractive destination for business and leisure travelers alike. With increased accessibility, the country aims to harness the benefits of globalization and pave the way for a prosperous future.

As travelers eagerly await the commencement of flights, the new route promises to connect people, cultures, and opportunities, fostering closer ties between El Salvador and Spain and opening doors to a world of possibilities.
