The port of Acajutla, in Sonsonate, is prepared to receive thousands of tourists this year-end and in 2023, thanks to the modernization work implemented by the government of President Nayib Bukele.
In this sense, the president of the Autonomous Executive Port Commission (CEPA), Federico Anliker, informed that, next weekend, El Salvador will receive the last cruise ship of this year; however, to date, around 10 more have already been scheduled for 2023.
“We have a cruise season that runs from October [of 2022] to April [of 2023]; the last of the year comes on December 17th. We have had cruises up to six stars. Also, we have 10 confirmed cruises for the next year. We are going to knock on doors to get more to join,” said the official.
On the other hand, Anliker added that more than 90% of the cruise passengers who come get off to see the country. “They are no longer afraid of a dangerous El Salvador. Now, he has a country full of security, joy, and tranquility, “said the head of CEPA.
He added that each boat brings up to more than 2,000 tourists, so a greater economic spillover is expected in the tourism sector of El Salvador.
