El Salvador assumes, for the first time in history, the presidency of the Group of Experts on Maritime Drug Trafficking of the Inter-American Drug Control Commission of the Organization of American States, which is made up of 33 member countries.
The country stands out for the increase in cocaine seizures. In 2020, 1,868 kilograms of drugs were seized, while in 2021, the figure increased to 10,900 kilograms of seized drugs.
The foregoing is a result of the actions of the government of President Nayib Bukele in the seizure of drugs.
The government of El Salvador has reiterated that it will continue to deal heavy blows to international drug trafficking. The fight against organized crime has allowed the capture of members of drug trafficking structures that operate on an international scale.
