Migratory flows in El Salvador increased by 127% during August festivities this year

The Government of El Salvador provided a balance of the results of international visits to the country during the August holidays of this year, among which the 127.9% increase in migratory flows compared to the same period of 2021 stands out.

The director of Immigration and Immigration, Ricardo Cucalón, reported that: “the data shows us that within the income of departures and arrivals, there were 328,456 nationals and foreigners who crossed our borders.”

On the other hand, the president of the Autonomous Executive Port Commission (CEPA), Federico Anliker, revealed that visits by foreigners registered from July 30 to August 7 of this year to El Salvador increased by 6.2% compared to the previous year. same time last year

The president of CEPA indicated that El Salvador has positioned itself as an attractive tourist destination on an international scale thanks to factors such as the good management of the pandemic, the adoption of bitcoin as legal tender, the creation of Surf City and advances in security implemented by the government of President Nayib Bukele.

The International Airport of El Salvador handled more than 400 commercial flight operations during the August holidays of 2022, for which, based on statistics, the Government of El Salvador classifies the holiday period as “successful.”

International tourism grew during these August holidays. We have registered close to 71,000 international visitors. That means an increase of more than 100%. We have overcome the gap that we had with respect to 2019, said the Minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez.

Minister Valdéz also highlighted that El Salvador is among the 15 countries in the world with the highest growth in tourism in the region and in foreign exchange earnings.

“Domestic tourism also increased during these August holidays. We have doubled our visitors to all of our parks, recreation centers, and natural and cultural sites. Definitely, tourism is that economic boost number two that President Bukele presented at the beginning of the year, “said Minister Morena Valdéz.
