Agromarkets in El Salvador left $696,000 to producers in six months

The General Directorate of Agricultural Economy (DGEA), of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG), announced that the agromarkets mobilized more than $696,000 from January to July of 2022.

«The Agromarket is one more bet of the strategy of the President of the Republic Nayib Bukele, through the Minister of Agriculture, Enrique Parada, to support local producers, creating spaces so that they can market their products at an affordable price, but that they maintain the quality and freshness of the products, “reported the MAG in a press release.

Due to the success of this strategy, Agriculture announced that five new spaces were opened in July, located in the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Finance, and Economy, in the National Registry Center (CNR), and the Integration Plaza;reaching 11 agromarkets nationwide.

According to MAG statistics, the mobilization of each of the 11 establishments is detailed as follows: Agromercado MAG has an economic flow of $396,815.43; for its part, the Agromarket for Women Producers maintains a constant flow of income for cooperative women that amounts to $269,024.73.

While those recently opened in Suchitoto, Banco de Fomento Agropecuario (BFA) and Ministry of Health (Minsal), respectively, have generated $4,656.40, $8,719.43, and $5,306.70.

In its early days, the positions were located in the CNR, Plaza Integración, Foreign Affairs, and Economy; they mobilized $7,015.45, $231.95, $1,610.25, and $2,059.25, respectively.

Through these types of activities, the MAG encourages the continuation of the “Consume lo Nuestro” campaign, through which it provides support to hundreds of Salvadoran producers.
