More Salvadorans living abroad have now the right to vote, and the number is growing

The Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) issued today a report stating that 11,039 Salvadorans residing abroad have been incorporated into the Electoral Registry, which will allow them to exercise their right to vote as of the next elections to be held. in February 2024.

According to the said report, the number of Salvadorans abroad with the right to cast their vote has increased considerably during the last three years. In 2018, only 303,561 residents abroad appeared in the Electoral Registry, and in the last elections of February 2021, there were 431,445 Salvadorans who were able to vote.

Likewise, the TSE report reflects that the United States is the country with the largest number of Salvadorans who already have the capacity to exercise suffrage, with a total of 437,320 people, followed by Canada with 2,638 and Italy with 1,814 citizens from El Salvador.
