The Minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez, reported that at the end of 2021, income from tourism exceeded $1,462 million, 54.7% more than what was projected at the beginning of last year.
“We had projected $800 million in foreign exchange earnings and we have exceeded it by $1,462 million in foreign exchange earnings. The country’s economic recovery is moving faster than all the other countries in the region, and tourism is no exception” said the Minister.
The result even exceeded the projections made in December of last year, when it was estimated that tourism would leave $1,447 million in foreign currency.
In addition, she pointed out that visitor expectations were also exceeded. Valdez revealed that last year, more than 1.4 million visitors were received.
