El Salvador’s next step against COVID-19: wellness

President Nayib Bukele shared his government’s new campaign aiming to prevent hospitalizations and fatalities from COVID-19, aimed at adopting a healthy lifestyle.

This is a campaign that provides a series of recommendations for Salvadorans, especially for those at risk of contracting COVID-19 and mortality, i.e., older adults and people with obesity, hypertension, diabetes, and chronic diseases.

Among the advice mentioned are the following: eat a healthy diet with a balanced diet to maintain an ideal weight, do outdoor activities, drink at least two liters of water a day to maintain healthy kidneys; try to sleep no less than 6 hours a day; and include citrus fruits in the diet, such as lemons, oranges, or tangerines.

The campaign to prevent hospitalizations and fatalities from COVID-19 closes its recommendations with the following phrase: “Today more than ever, we must take care of each other and stay healthy.”
