French Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade Nicolas Forissier praised the Salvadoran government’s commitment to modernizing public transportation during an official site inspection of the Aerocable transit system in Mejicanos. Forissier highlighted that Central America’s first cable car network represents a significant leap forward for local infrastructure, noting that improved urban mobility directly strengthens El Salvador’s national economy and overall quality of life.
The visit coincided with the installation of the project’s ninth support tower, marking a major construction milestone for the San Salvador Metropolitan Area. Developed in partnership with French engineering firm Poma, the cable car system is designed as an inclusive, safe, and efficient solution to ease traffic congestion in high-density urban corridors.
During the inspection—conducted alongside Public Works Minister Romeo Rodríguez and French Ambassador Anne Denis-Blanchardon—Forissier expressed admiration for the project’s technical standard. “I congratulate President Nayib Bukele’s government for facilitating transportation for Salvadorans and modernizing the system. Improving mobility represents progress and a boost to El Salvador’s economy,” Forissier stated.
Looking ahead, French representatives and local authorities emphasized that this initial cable car line in San Salvador could serve as the benchmark for broader regional expansion. Expressing optimism for future infrastructure collaboration, Forissier added, “We hope this will be the first line of the Aerocable that we can install of many more to come.”
