Eleven Salvadoran surfers will compete alongside approximately 400 athletes representing 56 countries at the 2026 ISA World Junior Surfing Championship, underscoring the international scale of the competition taking place in El Salvador.
The championship will bring together a large field of young surfing talent at El Sunzal and La Bocana beaches from September 5 to 13, turning El Salvador’s Pacific coastline into a global meeting point for the next generation of the sport.
El Salvador will have 11 representatives competing across the junior divisions. Eight local surfers will take part in the under-16 category, while three will compete in the under-18 division, giving Salvadoran athletes the opportunity to measure themselves against competitors from around the world.
The event will feature both girls’ and boys’ divisions in the under-16 and under-18 categories, creating an international platform for hundreds of emerging surfers to compete at one of the world’s recognized surfing destinations.
The presence of 400 surfers from 56 nations also highlights the scale of the championship and the international reach of Surf City El Salvador. For the country’s young athletes, the competition represents an opportunity to compete on home waves while gaining experience at one of the sport’s most important junior events.
With 11 Salvadoran competitors joining a field drawn from dozens of countries, the championship will showcase both the growing depth of local surfing talent and El Salvador’s continued prominence on the international surfing calendar.
