El Salvador is moving forward with the construction phase of the Apopa Bypass, a major road infrastructure project designed to improve mobility and ease congestion in one of the country’s key transportation areas.
The Ministry of Public Works (MOP) has received and opened bids for the project, marking an important step toward the development of the new roadway. The planned bypass will extend 4.8 kilometers and feature four traffic lanes and 12 bridges, including a cable-stayed bridge.
The new connection will link the Carretera de Oro with the Troncal del Norte, allowing motorists traveling between these major routes to bypass Apopa’s urban center.
By redirecting through traffic away from the city, the Apopa Bypass project is expected to improve travel efficiency, reduce congestion, and strengthen road connectivity in northern El Salvador. The investment forms part of the country’s broader efforts to modernize transportation infrastructure and improve mobility for residents and commercial traffic.
