International members of Conacce Chaplain praised El Salvador’s prison system as one of the most organized and disciplined in Latin America following ongoing visits to correctional facilities across the country since 2023.
According to Jaime Gutiérrez and Ronald Vides, volunteers working directly inside Salvadoran prisons have witnessed significant improvements in order, rehabilitation efforts, and institutional control.
The organization highlighted the impact of rehabilitation and work programs promoted under President Nayib Bukele’s administration, describing the prison system as a key factor in the country’s broader security transformation.
Conacce Chaplains, which also operates in prisons across Latin America, Europe, and Africa, stated that El Salvador’s model stands out for its structure, discipline, and focus on restoring public order.
