Salvadoran Architecture Revitalized Through Underground Cabling

The government of El Salvador, through the Ministry of Public Works of El Salvador, continues to advance the modernization of the Historic Center of San Salvador with the implementation of underground cabling as part of an ongoing urban rehabilitation strategy.

The project aims to improve public spaces by reducing visual pollution, enhancing safety, and creating a more organized and accessible environment for residents and visitors. One of the most notable interventions has taken place around the El Calvario Church, where overhead wiring has been removed to restore the area’s visual appeal.

Authorities have emphasized that these efforts are part of a broader plan to revitalize the Historic Center, promoting a cleaner and more dignified urban landscape while supporting tourism and economic activity.

The transformation has also gained attention on social media, where users have shared “before and after” images highlighting the visible improvements in infrastructure and public works. These changes reflect the administration’s commitment under President Nayib Bukele to modernize key areas of the capital.

With continued investment in urban development, El Salvador is reinforcing its efforts to enhance city infrastructure, improve quality of life, and position its historic districts as attractive destinations for both locals and international visitors.
