El Salvador Strengthens Public Education Through Large-Scale Technology Distribution.

El Salvador’s Ministry of Education has begun receiving 440,000 technological devices that will be incorporated into the school supply package for public school students, as part of the government’s national education digitalization policy.

Education Minister Karla Trigueros confirmed that the shipment includes next-generation tablets and computers that will be distributed nationwide to students in the public education system. “Tonight we are receiving technological equipment, tablets and computers that will be included in the school package, by mandate of President Nayib Bukele, for public system students. These devices are state-of-the-art,” she said.

Trigueros emphasized that this delivery builds on efforts launched in 2021 to expand access to technology in classrooms. “These 440,000 devices add to the 1.2 million we have already delivered since 2021. During this period, the country has invested $800 million exclusively in technological equipment,” she stated.

The minister also explained that the reception and safeguarding of the equipment is being carried out across multiple warehouses nationwide, with support from several state institutions. “In addition to this location, we have other warehouses where personnel from Civil Protection, the Ministry of the Interior, inmates participating through the Zero Idleness Plan, and Ministry of Education staff are working together to receive these technological supplies,” she noted.

This investment aims to reduce the digital divide, strengthen learning processes, and ensure that students in El Salvador’s public education system have access to modern technological tools for their academic development.
