Former CIA agent and current political commentator Buck Sexton has publicly praised El Salvador’s dramatic improvement in public safety, highlighting the country’s historic reduction in its homicide rate.
Quoting President Nayib Bukele’s post about the nation’s security achievements, Sexton stated on social media: “A society gets the crime level it tolerates. It’s a choice. El Salvador did the right thing. God bless.”
El Salvador has seen a remarkable transformation, reducing its homicide rate from 103 per 100,000 inhabitants in 2015 to just 1 per 100,000 this year — one of the lowest in the world.
Sexton, who now hosts a political radio program in the United States, emphasized that the country’s results reflect a clear national decision to confront violence and restore peace. His comments add to the growing international recognition of El Salvador’s security strategy under President Bukele’s administration.
