Connectivity and Development in Eastern El Salvador: New Infrastructure under Bukele

President Nayib Bukele announced the completion of the Gerardo Barrios Ring Road, a major infrastructure project in the eastern region of the country, now equipped with solar-powered lighting. The highway is expected to significantly improve connectivity, mobility, and development opportunities for the eastern part of El Salvador.

“What previous governments only promised is now a reality,” President Bukele said while highlighting the project’s conclusion. “We laid the first stone, we built it, we finished it, and now we illuminate it with solar energy. The eastern part of our country is no longer forgotten. Thank God.”

The Gerardo Barrios Ring Road is seen as a transformative investment in El Salvador’s road infrastructure, easing transportation, boosting local economies, and integrating renewable energy solutions through its solar-powered lighting system.

With this achievement, the Bukele administration continues its emphasis on modern infrastructure projects that aim to balance development with sustainability.
