El Salvador Tourism 2025: 14% Growth and Nearly Half of Annual Visitor Target Reached.

El Salvador’s international tourism sector continues its upward trend, with a 14% increase in foreign visitor arrivals so far in 2025 compared to the same period last year, Tourism Minister Morena Valdez announced on Monday.

As of August 2, the country has welcomed 41,000 international visitors — nearly 50% of the annual target of 90,000. “We aimed to welcome 90,000 international visitors this year, and as of August 2, we have already reached 41,000. This is equivalent to 14% more than in 2024 and almost half of our goal,” Valdez stated.

The majority of tourists have arrived from the United States, Guatemala, and Honduras, with a notable increase in Salvadorans living abroad visiting during the August holidays.

Among the top attractions this season is the revitalized Historic Center of San Salvador, which has become one of the most visited destinations in the country.

Valdez underscored that this sustained growth in tourism not only strengthens El Salvador’s global image as a travel destination but also contributes significantly to the national economy, consolidating the sector as an important component of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
