Salvadoran Public University and Water Authority Team Up to Train the Next Generation of Engineers.

In a move to promote professional growth among El Salvador’s youth, the Administration of National Aqueducts and Sewers (ANDA) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture of the University of El Salvador (UES). The agreement aims to strengthen academic development, technical training, and innovation across the country.

“We are signing this memorandum as the starting point for students to begin their research projects within ANDA,” said ANDA President Jorge Castaneda. “If they wish to complete social service hours, internships, or stand out in their performance, they may be offered a contract that includes a salary and full benefits.”

Through this initiative, ANDA will facilitate internship programs, social service hours, research opportunities, courses, and professional development programs for students. More than 60 UES students have already gained hands-on experience through ANDA’s various infrastructure projects, leaving a lasting impact.

Luis Salvador García, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, emphasized the broader impact of the collaboration. “We need to evolve and expand in areas that benefit not only academia but the country as a whole. This agreement benefits both students and faculty.”

Castaneda noted that ANDA is currently managing a historic $265 million investment in potable water systems. The partnership will enhance the institution’s operational capacity while contributing to national development.

This agreement reflects President Nayib Bukele’s ongoing commitment to empowering young Salvadorans and fostering their academic and professional futures.
