Royal Caribbean held a recruitment event in El Salvador to hire local candidates for positions on its cruise ships, as part of an agreement with the Salvadoran government. The initiative is part of the Labor Mobility Program, backed by the U.S. government, which aims to provide international job opportunities to Salvadorans.
Candidates applied for roles such as public area attendants and food service assistants. The event allowed face-to-face interviews with company representatives.
Elsy Vásquez, from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said the program supports “orderly, safe, and regular migration” and offers “an opportunity for Salvadorans to serve on vessels worldwide.” She noted that participants receive guidance on managing their earnings for future investment and development.
Sandra Jarquín, Royal Caribbean’s representative, said the company returns each year because “Salvadorans are hardworking and entrepreneurial. English is essential for any onboard position.”
Kevin Martínez, an applicant from San Salvador, said, “It has been a dream to be part of this company. I’m thankful for this opportunity.”
