El Salvador Brings Free Wi-Fi to 73 Public Parks in Push for Digital Inclusion.

El Salvador continues advancing its digital transformation with the expansion of free internet access to 73 public parks across the country, as part of the government’s connectivity strategy led by President Nayib Bukele. The Secretariat of Innovation announced the milestone in June 2025, highlighting its commitment to making internet access a public right rather than a privilege.

As of June 25, 70 parks nationwide were already offering free Wi-Fi. On June 26, three new parks joined the initiative in the districts of Nuevo Cuscatlán, San José Villanueva, and Zaragoza, located in the eastern region of La Libertad. With these additions, the program now reaches 70 districts in 33 municipalities, directly benefiting over 60,000 people.

“Before, connectivity in El Salvador was a privilege. Today, step by step, it is becoming a right that is reaching everyone. The Secretariat of Innovation is driving deep transformation with Conectando El Salvador,” the institution stated.

Conectando El Salvador is a national strategy aimed at closing the digital divide by bringing high-speed internet to public spaces, including remote areas previously lacking coverage. The initiative not only provides free internet but also opens new paths for innovation, entrepreneurship, and digital education for all age groups.

According to the Secretariat, the government continues to build partnerships and create opportunities for Salvadorans to develop digital skills. Last week, the institution reported that public employees have received training in digital tools thanks to support from Google, enabling them to work more efficiently and better serve the population.
