El Salvador has taken another significant step in strengthening its diplomatic and economic partnership with Türkiye, as a Turkish delegation from the Department of Tax Administration visited the country to engage in key negotiations.
The visit marked the first round of discussions on a bilateral agreement focused on eliminating double taxation on income and preventing tax evasion and avoidance. This initiative aligns with the growing cooperation between the two nations, which gained momentum following President Nayib Bukele’s official visit to Türkiye in January 2022, where he met with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
The Turkish delegation was led by Ahmet Yıldırım, Head of the Department of Tax Administration, while El Salvador was represented by Ernesto Morales, Deputy Director of Medium Taxpayers at the Ministry of Finance.
The talks were conducted in a spirit of mutual respect and collaboration. “We are committed to continuing this dialogue and finalizing the agreement as soon as possible,” both leaders stated.
This negotiation is seen as a key milestone in reinforcing strategic cooperation between El Salvador and Türkiye, not only in fiscal matters but also as a foundation for future agreements in emerging areas such as artificial intelligence and technology.
These discussions underscore the growing closeness between both countries, reflecting a shared interest in building sustainable and mutually beneficial relationships through continued joint efforts.
