El Salvador’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted the Second Political Consultations Meeting with Spain, led by Vice Minister Adriana Mira and Spain’s Secretary of State Susana Sumelzo Jordán.
Vice Minister Mira highlighted the strong historical ties between both nations and the progress made through joint initiatives. “This meeting reflects the positive state of our bilateral relations and builds on the structured dialogue initiated in our first consultations,” she stated. She also emphasized El Salvador’s security improvements under President Nayib Bukele’s administration, calling the country “the safest in the Western Hemisphere.”
Mira acknowledged Spain’s role as a key partner in economic development. “To sustain this progress, we rely on allies like Spain to continue working for our people,” she added.
Secretary Sumelzo Jordán expressed satisfaction with the discussions, noting, “Our countries are experiencing a positive phase, and this is a valuable opportunity to examine the challenges we face together.” She reaffirmed Spain’s commitment to supporting El Salvador’s growth.
The meeting covered cooperation in trade, investment, energy, tourism, environment, and education. “Spain is firmly committed to El Salvador as a brother nation and reliable partner,” Sumelzo Jordán reiterated.
The gathering included ambassadors from both nations and officials from Spain’s Foreign Ministry and AECID. The discussions reinforced the two countries’ dedication to deeper collaboration in the years ahead.
