A recent survey conducted by Cadem has revealed that 46% of Chileans would prefer their next president to have a leadership style similar to that of El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele. This marks a 10-percentage-point increase since January, indicating a growing interest in Bukele’s governance approach.
The poll positions Bukele far ahead of other figures, with former Chilean President Michelle Bachelet receiving 17% support, former U.S. President Donald Trump garnering 7%, and current Chilean President Gabriel Boric obtaining only 5%.
The findings reflect a shift in public opinion as Chileans evaluate different leadership models for their country’s future. Bukele has gained international recognition for his firm stance on security and governance, which appears to resonate with a significant portion of Chilean citizens.
