Students at the República de Brasil Educational Complex in the capital city have received a major boost with the renovation of their library and four classrooms. The improvements, carried out with the support of the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC), reflect the strong ties of friendship and collaboration between the governments of El Salvador and Brazil.
The renovation project included the installation of a new roof, ceiling replacements, improvements to the rainwater drainage system, LED lighting installation, and window refurbishments. Additionally, new furniture was provided to make the reading room a more comfortable and inviting space for students.
Brazil’s ambassador to El Salvador, Luiz Eduardo de Aguiar Villarinho, highlighted the significance of this initiative. “This project represents much more than infrastructure improvements; it symbolizes the revitalization of the dream to provide children and young people with an environment conducive to learning and holistic development. It ensures that this educational complex continues to be a beacon of opportunity,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Karla de Palma, Director General of the Salvadoran Agency for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasized that the initiative aligns with national efforts to enhance education. She pointed out that the project supports the First Lady’s Office and the Ministry of Education and Technology in their mission to improve educational quality, particularly through programs such as “Reading at Home,” which promotes literacy from an early age.
Teachers at the institution are also optimistic about the impact of the renovations. Loida Quintana, a faculty member, expressed enthusiasm about the renewed library, noting that “we will now have physical resources and printed books that will capture students’ attention and contribute to reading comprehension, which is essential for education.”
Francisco Ramírez, the school’s director, reinforced the commitment to integrating the new library into the academic program. “We have scheduled reading sessions that will take place here in the library. It’s not just about stepping away from the classroom, but about creating a space where imagination can soar,” he said.
The República de Brasil Educational Complex provides education from kindergarten to high school, serving as a vital institution for the local community. The recent renovations mark a step forward in ensuring a better learning environment for its students.
