El Salvador’s Aerospace Institute Strengthens Ties with Government to Boost Technological Development.

El Salvador is positioning itself as a leader in aerospace innovation, as the country’s Vice President, Félix Ulloa Jr., met with the Parliamentary Women’s Block of the Central American Parliament (PARLACEN) and the El Salvador Aerospace Institute (ESAI) to discuss the «Aeronautical and Space Technology Cluster» project. The initiative, which aims to make El Salvador a key player in aerospace technology, has garnered strong support from both the government and private sector.

In a statement, ESAI President Luis Alfaro expressed gratitude to Vice President Ulloa, the government of President Nayib Bukele, and other stakeholders for their ongoing commitment to advancing the country’s technological development. “It is a joy to join forces to contribute to the economic, social, cultural, educational, technological, and sustainable development of El Salvador and Latin America,” Alfaro said.

Vice President Ulloa highlighted El Salvador’s focus on building a strategic environment that attracts innovative companies. He emphasized key projects such as the construction of the Pacific Airport, the modernization of Ilopango Airport, and the transformation of El Salvador’s International Airport. These efforts align with the government’s commitment to innovation and technological advancement, supported by the recently passed Law for the Promotion of Innovation and Manufacturing of Technologies. The law offers significant tax incentives to attract foreign companies and foster growth in the sector.

A major development revealed during the meeting was the interest of an American company in establishing operations in El Salvador, including the construction of a hypersonic wind tunnel and collaboration with the Salvadoran Air Force. This initiative could generate over 3,000 jobs in its first phase, significantly boosting the country’s aerospace industry.

Deputy Leonora Reyes also stressed the role of El Salvador’s secure environment and growing pool of young talent in attracting international investments. With increased investment in education and scientific training, El Salvador is positioning itself as a hub for technological progress in the region.

Through these initiatives, El Salvador reaffirms its vision for progress and innovation, solidifying its position as a key destination for technological and scientific investment in Latin America and the Caribbean.
