El Salvador continues to support the Salvadoran diaspora’s investment and development initiatives to boost the national economy. In this spirit, the Embassy of El Salvador in the United States is backing the establishment of the International Institute of Fashion Design – Haute Couture, spearheaded by Salvadoran designer Pablo Palomeque.
This project, also supported by local entrepreneurs, aims to provide young Salvadorans passionate about fashion with specialized training, world-class education, and top-tier equipment. “Many of our young people are self-taught designers. Here, they will receive the necessary education. The Embassy is committed to showcasing their talent through platforms like the Fashion Shows we organize in the U.S.,” stated Salvadoran Ambassador Milena Mayorga.
Palomeque, a graduate of the Miami International University of Art and Design, has over 15 years of experience in the industry, having worked with luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton, Valentino, and Oscar de la Renta. He has also collaborated with renowned artists and participated in major fashion events. His return to El Salvador marks not only a homecoming but also a commitment to fostering the next generation of designers.
The institute, located in Colonia Escalón, San Salvador, is the first of its kind in Central America. It will offer specialized diplomas in Fashion Design, Fashion Styling, Visual Merchandising, and more, following international methodologies. With state-of-the-art facilities and internship opportunities abroad, the institute aims to position El Salvador as a global fashion hub.
