A Greener Initiative: El Salvador’s Blossoming Effort for a More Beautiful, Sustainable Nation.

The government of President Nayib Bukele is furthering its commitment to environmental sustainability through the MOPVERDE initiative, a program led by the Ministry of Public Works (MOP). The initiative focuses on the creation of nurseries that will cultivate a wide variety of plants, trees, and ornamental species to beautify the country’s roads and national parks.

A prominent feature of the initiative is the planting and transplanting of maquilishuat trees, a symbol of national pride, in the capital city. These iconic trees, known for their striking pink flowers, will soon blossom throughout San Salvador, with thousands of Salvadorans set to enjoy the breathtaking floral displays.

Through MOPVERDE, the government aims to contribute to the country’s environmental protection while promoting the aesthetic appeal of urban and rural areas alike. This effort highlights the government’s continued focus on creating a greener, more sustainable El Salvador for future generations.
