The Government of El Salvador is set to begin construction on the Pacific Airport, a flagship project of President Nayib Bukele aimed at boosting economic growth in the country’s eastern region. Located in La Unión, the new terminal is expected to generate significant development and create jobs for the area.
“We have completed all necessary studies and permits, presenting 930 detailed plans,” confirmed a government official. The feasibility study adhered to international standards, ensuring readiness to welcome global airlines.
With an estimated cost of $335 million, the project includes thorough evaluations of market demand, connectivity, and environmental impacts. Construction is slated to start soon, with initial groundwork already awarded to a contractor.
The airport is projected to handle 3 million passengers annually and create 5,000 jobs in its first year of operation, marking a transformative step for the region’s economy and tourism.
