El Salvador Strengthens Consumer Protection During the Holiday Season.

The Government of El Salvador is taking proactive measures to safeguard family finances this holiday season, ensuring citizens can benefit from genuine promotions and fair prices.

Ricardo Salazar, President of the Consumer Protection Agency, leads price verification operations at Plaza Mundo Usulután, a key shopping destination. The agency has deployed teams nationwide to uphold consumer rights and provide essential support.

A Consumer Assistance Center has been set up at Plaza Mundo Usulután, where visitors can receive advice and report potential violations of their consumer rights. The Defensoría also offers support through its hotline at 910 and via WhatsApp at 7844-1482.

Inspectors are conducting thorough price checks across various establishments in the shopping center. These efforts extend throughout the country, focusing on ensuring fair pricing, validating promotions, and verifying warranty mechanisms for purchased goods.

The agency’s Christmas Plan includes providing information, guidance, and responding to consumer complaints. Over the first 11 days of operations, more than 420 price verifications have been conducted nationwide.

“In this holiday season, the government of President Bukele works tirelessly to protect Salvadoran families,” said Salazar. “Our institution plays a vital role in safeguarding household budgets and ensuring access to essential goods and services.”

This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to protecting consumers and fostering a fair marketplace during the busy holiday shopping period.
