El Salvador Welcomes Luxury Cruise Line Cunard for the First Time in 2027.

Luxury British cruise line Cunard has announced that El Salvador will be one of the new destinations included in the Queen Victoria’s voyage during the 2026-2027 cruise season. The ship will dock at the Port of Acajutla, Sonsonate, marking the first-ever visit by a Cunard ship to this location.

In a statement this month, Cunard confirmed that the Port of Acajutla, along with the Port of Ferrol in Spain, will be the two inaugural stops for its fleet in this upcoming season. Between October 2026 and April 2027, Cunard’s four iconic ships—the Queen Mary 2, Queen Anne, Queen Elizabeth, and Queen Victoria—will make a total of 40 voyages, covering 101 destinations in 56 countries. These include 22 maiden calls and 26 overnight stays.

The Queen Victoria will embark on a 109-night voyage in January 2027, visiting prominent locations such as Sydney, Australia, and Cape Town, South Africa, while also making new stops in Dakar, Senegal, and Durban, South Africa. Meanwhile, the Queen Anne will sail on a 56-night tour of South Africa, and the Queen Mary 2 will offer trips from the Port of Ferrol to Mindelo, Cape Verde. The Queen Elizabeth will set sail on Caribbean cruises departing from Miami at the end of 2026.

Cunard cruises for this season will go on sale starting October 17, 2024, with exclusive access available to members one day earlier.

El Salvador’s cruise tourism has been growing since 2017. In the most recent season, from October 2023 to May 2024, the government anticipated the arrival of 15 ships. The last confirmed vessel was the Crystal Serenity, which docked at Acajutla with over 1,200 passengers. The 2024-2025 season is set to begin soon, though the number of ships expected to visit El Salvador’s shores has yet to be announced.
