The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has released the list of 81 Salvadoran consulates and diplomatic missions now offering immediate passport issuance. With this service, Salvadorans can receive their passport in less than 40 minutes, as confirmed by Cindy Portal, Deputy Minister of Diaspora and Human Mobility.
This week, the service was extended to consulates in Turkey, India, Israel, Japan, Australia, South Korea, and China. The passport fee is $40 within Central America and $60 outside the region.
To apply for a passport, applicants must present an original birth certificate issued within the past year, a valid Salvadoran DUI, and proof of payment. Salvadorans abroad with valid passports can also vote electronically in person at designated voting centers, under the law for overseas voting.
