El Salvador Emerges as Second Largest Exporter of Tech Services in Latin America.

El Salvador is making strides in its goal to become a leading technological hub in Latin America, now ranking as the second largest exporter of technological services in the region. This year, notable companies such as Google, Data Trust, and TekKnowledge have joined the country’s burgeoning tech ecosystem, further solidifying the government’s vision.

As part of President Nayib Bukele’s economic plan for his second term, technology development aims to attract substantial investments and create highly skilled jobs, ultimately improving the quality of life for Salvadorans. Mario Padilla, Executive Director of the Salvadoran Chamber of Information and Communications Technology (Casatic), emphasized the industry’s growth, stating, «We have doubled all the services we export in recent years. Our response to the pandemic positioned us as a benchmark in the region.»

The digital transformation of the state has also set El Salvador apart, with Padilla noting that both public and private sectors are embracing digitalization. «This will not only position El Salvador as a technological hub but will also further develop our industries,» he said.

The favorable investment climate and security in El Salvador have attracted significant interest from major corporations, reinforcing the country’s status as a tech destination. Minister of Economy María Luisa Hayem highlighted the government’s commitment to inclusive economic development during the recent Concordia 2024 Summit in Miami.

The government’s actions include adopting electronic platforms to streamline services, promoting new technologies for increased productivity, and nurturing an innovative entrepreneurial ecosystem. With these initiatives, El Salvador is well on its way to establishing itself as a global technological hub.
