The National Library of El Salvador (BINAES) is pioneering a groundbreaking initiative that integrates advanced technology into its offerings, focusing on four key areas: robotics, virtual reality, prototyping, and a gamer zone. Since its inauguration, BINAES has aimed to equip users with essential skills for the future.
In the robotics section, children aged 3 to 7 can engage in workshops featuring educational robots like Bolt, which help develop basic programming and motor coordination. Older children and adolescents can explore more complex topics, including smart home technology and basic electronics through specialized courses.
The virtual reality area immerses users in virtual worlds using advanced tools like Meta Quest 3 glasses. This space facilitates learning in augmented and mixed reality, enhancing creative skills applicable to various fields such as education, health, and architecture.
BINAES also offers a prototyping section where users can turn innovative ideas into reality using digital manufacturing techniques, including 3D printing and laser cutting. Workshops cover everything from digital modeling to character design, enabling participants to familiarize themselves with cutting-edge technologies.
Additionally, the gamer zone promotes social and soft skills through video games in a constructive environment. Users can compete in popular tournaments featuring titles like FC24, Minecraft, and Mario Kart, while also developing problem-solving, teamwork, and perseverance. Educational simulators for racing and aviation further enhance the learning experience.
Miguel Aquino, director of BINAES, stated, “Innovation at the National Library of El Salvador not only makes advanced technologies available to the community but also inspires future generations to explore, create, and learn in new and exciting ways.” He emphasized that these initiatives bridge education and technology, positioning the library as a regional leader in modern learning and providing valuable tools for the challenges of the contemporary world.
