Costa del Sol Park Renovation with 90% of Beach Phase Complete.

The Salvadoran Institute of Tourism (ISTU) is pressing forward with its ongoing park renovations to provide quality services and improved spaces for both Salvadoran citizens and international visitors.

Eny Aguiñada, ISTU’s president, recently announced that the renovation of Costa del Sol Recreational Park, covering both the beach area and the Jaltepeque Estuary, is underway with an investment exceeding $6 million. The project is expected to be completed by 2025.

Aguiñada confirmed that the first phase of the project, focused on the beach area, has reached 90% completion. “Phase 1 and 2 cover the beach zone. We have finished 90% of Phase 1 and are set to begin Phase 2. Afterward, work will commence on the estuary area. Our goal is for visitors to enjoy the beach while the estuary is under construction,” she explained during a radio interview.

The master plan includes building two new pools, renovating the restaurant and sanitary facilities, and adding a new cabin area for tourists wishing to stay within the park. The estuary zone will see the construction of additional cabins, as well as the renovation of basketball and beach soccer courts.

“We are embarking on a complete park overhaul, but visitors will not have to wait for both areas to be completed. They can park in the estuary area and enjoy the recreational space in the meantime,” Aguiñada added.

In addition to the Costa del Sol project, Aguiñada mentioned the near completion of Phase 1 of the San Sebastián Tourist Terminal renovation in San Vicente. This includes the opening of a new museum and the future construction of a social plaza with restaurants.

The Cerro Verde Natural Park is also slated for renovation, with a new coffee plaza to be added soon.

As of July this year, ISTU reported 2.6 million visitors across its 17 national parks.
