Government and University Expand Educational Horizons with 5,000 New Scholarships for Salvadoran Youth.

In a landmark move for Salvadoran education, the Government under President Nayib Bukele has solidified its commitment to academic advancement by extending its partnership with the Open Modular University (@UModularAbierta). The renewed cooperation agreement with the Directorate of Integration (@integracionsv), led by Alejandro Gutman, will provide university scholarships to 5,000 young Salvadorans.

Alejandro Gutman, honorary president of the Directorate of Integration (@AGutmanSV), expressed his gratitude for the university’s ongoing support. «It is wonderful that the University @UModularAbierta joins this project and supports us because they are also making an effort so that together we can carry out a different training,» Gutman said. He also highlighted the broader impact of the initiative: «These scholarships will benefit not only the young people but also their families, as a vast majority have not had any history of university education.»

Judith Mendoza de Díaz, rector of @UModularAbierta, underscored the university’s commitment to the initiative, noting that the support will be extended through 2025. «Before, universities were an unknown space for young people; now they have a sense of belonging and feel proud to be in one because they opened the doors to them,» Mendoza de Díaz commented.

This agreement signifies a shared vision for promoting educational opportunities and building a more equitable future for Salvadoran youth and their families, paving the way for greater academic and social advancement.
