During an official visit to Spain, Deputy Minister for Diaspora and Human Mobility, Cindy Mariella Portal, engaged with Salvadorans in Madrid at the “Fusion of Flavors with the Diaspora” event.
“This activity allows us to showcase the rich Salvadoran cuisine and our diverse cultures,” said Deputy Minister Portal. She highlighted the long-standing friendship and cooperation between El Salvador and Spain, emphasizing the strengthening of cultural exchange through gastronomy.
Portal noted that cultural promotion is part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Public Diplomacy, driven by its global network of embassies and consulates. “None of this would be possible without our diaspora, who bring their flavors and family recipes to their new homes,” she added.
Supported by Salvadoran chef Ricardo Cardona and Eliza Martínez from Pupusería La Ceiba, the event also saw the collaboration of the “José Ortega y Gasset” Foundation. Attendees included Ambassador Joaquín Alexander Maza, Consul General Pablo Campos, and representatives of the Salvadoran diaspora in Spain.
