Reforestation Initiative in El Salvador Plants Over 4 Million Trees.

With the onset of the rainy season, the Ministry of Environment has launched the #ÁrbolesParaElSalvador campaign, a comprehensive and ongoing initiative that has successfully planted more than 4 million trees. This ambitious project targets areas affected by forest fires, water recharge zones, and Protected Natural Areas.

This year, the initiative has expanded to include a variety of medicinal plants alongside the fruit-bearing and forest species already being cultivated in the country’s extensive network of nurseries. The inclusion of these medicinal species aims to enhance biodiversity and promote the sustainable use of natural resources.

Minister of Environment, Fernando López, emphasized the importance of community involvement in these reforestation efforts. «Everyone is welcome to join these planting campaigns and contribute to the conservation of our ecosystems,» the Minister stated. The participation of the public is seen as crucial to the success of the initiative, fostering a collective responsibility towards environmental stewardship.

The #ÁrbolesParaElSalvador campaign is not only a response to immediate ecological challenges but also a long-term strategy to restore and protect El Salvador’s natural landscapes. By planting millions of trees, the initiative aims to mitigate the impacts of deforestation, support biodiversity, and enhance the resilience of natural habitats.

As the rainy season provides ideal conditions for planting, the Ministry of Environment encourages all citizens to participate and make a tangible difference in preserving the country’s natural heritage.
