To showcase El Salvador’s promising business environment, American entrepreneurs learned firsthand about the favorable conditions and benefits for establishing foreign companies in the country. The U.S. Ambassador to El Salvador, William Duncan, participated virtually in the El Salvador Investment Opportunities Forum, organized by the El Salvador Investment and Export Agency (Invest) on Tuesday.
“El Salvador offers significant potential for investors looking to nearshore their operations and enter growth sectors,” Ambassador Duncan stated in his address to the investors gathered in Washington. He emphasized two key factors that enhance the success of investing in El Salvador: its strategic location in the heart of the continent and a workforce renowned for its strong work ethic and innovative spirit.
Duncan highlighted tourism, clean energy, and technology as sectors with the highest growth prospects in the country. “There is room for growth and profitability, and the cultural ties between our countries facilitate business alliances because Salvadorans are familiar with the U.S. and align well with American business culture,” he remarked.
He also acknowledged the Salvadoran government’s efforts to create a free market and attract foreign direct investment by adopting innovation and new technologies, reducing bureaucracy, automating state services, and streamlining customs procedures. “El Salvador’s growing tech sector aligns with U.S. innovation, creating opportunities for collaboration and knowledge exchange,” Duncan added.
Economy Minister María Luisa Hayem also participated in the event, emphasizing that initiatives such as promoting digital transformation and improving services for businesses and citizens have led to Google establishing operations in El Salvador, bringing various benefits to investors.
The Investment Opportunities Forum in El Salvador aims to leverage the nearshoring model, which seeks to bring production plants closer to their consumer markets. According to Invest, El Salvador is positioning itself as an attractive destination for the relocation of companies in the region by promoting opportunities in a favorable business environment that allows companies to establish, operate, and expand efficiently and safely.
The forum also saw the participation of El Salvador’s Ambassador to the United States, Milena Mayorga; the President of Invest, Salvador Gómez Góchez; and the Director of Investments at the Ministry of Tourism, Vanessa Bandak.
“There is room for growth and profitability, and the cultural ties between our countries facilitate business alliances because Salvadorans are familiar with the U.S. and align well with American business culture,” Duncan emphasized once more, highlighting the collaborative potential between the two nations.
