Salvadoran Troops Return Home After Successful Peacekeeping Mission in Mali.

Contingente Torogoz VIII, a group of 110 Salvadoran soldiers, has returned home after ten months of humanitarian missions in Mali. The deployment was part of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission, showcasing El Salvador’s commitment to global peacekeeping.

The Minister of Defense, René Merino Monroy, officially sent off the troops on January 19, 2023. Since July 15, 2015, Salvadoran soldiers, alongside Mexican officers, have actively engaged in humanitarian efforts in Timbuktu, Mali.

The successful completion of Contingente Torogoz VIII’s mission underscores El Salvador’s ongoing dedication to international cooperation and peacekeeping. As these soldiers reunite with their families, their service remains a testament to the nation’s commitment to fostering global stability and aiding those in need.
