El Salvador’s Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MOPT) has rolled out a robust set of measures to enhance safety and efficiency during holiday travel. Minister Romeo Herrera outlined key initiatives to address potential challenges.
«We’re implementing preventive actions, including increased vehicular checks, anti-doping controls, and streamlined traffic management, involving over 13,000 personnel,» highlighted Minister Herrera.
To address unforeseen issues, MOPT launched the MOPTeAsiste roadside assistance service. «Motorists can call 2510-0199 from December 6 to January 1, 2024, for support in case of mechanical breakdowns or accidents,» added Herrera.
Reflecting on the year, the MOPTeAsiste program provided 1,576 interventions, covering 53,839 kilometers. Minister Herrera outlined plans to expand services to tourist destinations and announced upcoming cargo transport restrictions on the Litoral highway for road safety.
El Salvador’s proactive measures underscore a commitment to ensuring a secure and efficient holiday travel experience. Travelers are encouraged to stay informed and utilize MOPTeAsiste for a stress-free holiday season.
