Salvadoran Manufacturers Target Caribbean Market Growth Through Strategic Dominican Republic Trade Mission.

El Salvador is actively broadening its commercial footprint in the Caribbean, marked by a recent high-level trade mission in Santo Domingo. Co-organized by the Embassy of El Salvador in the Dominican Republic, Invest in El Salvador, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Santo Domingo Chamber of Commerce and Production, the initiative connected five leading Salvadoran manufacturers with 12 major Dominican buyer companies, achieving 48 face-to-face business meetings designed to unlock new export avenues.

The delegation—featuring prominent exporters Exportadora Río Grande, Industrias Plásticas, Melher, Hermel, and LICA—showcased high-quality goods across diverse manufacturing segments. Beyond establishing direct commercial contacts, the mission focused on forging strategic distribution alliances, positioning Salvadoran products to meet growing demand within the Dominican retail and consumer markets.

As part of the strategic agenda, the Salvadoran delegation conducted an on-site operational tour of Grupo Ramos, one of the Dominican Republic’s premier retail conglomerates operating over 90 stores and employing more than 8,000 workers. The visit provided firsthand insights into key commercial formats like Sirena and Aprezio, allowing Salvadoran executives to align their supply capabilities with local market dynamics and retail logistics.

Diplomatic leaders emphasized that this commercial push marks a step forward in cementing bilateral economic integration. “This trade mission represents a concrete opportunity to continue bringing our entrepreneurs closer together and strengthening economic ties between El Salvador and the Dominican Republic,” highlighted Dania Elena Tolentino,Salvadoran Ambassador to the Dominican Republic, reaffirming ongoing institutional backing to turn these initial encounters into long-term commercial partnerships.
