El Salvador’s tourism sector continues to gain international attention, with Tourism Minister Morena Valdez highlighting the country’s strong performance in global tourism indicators.
Valdez stated that UN Tourism has ranked El Salvador as the fastest-growing tourism destination in the Americas and second worldwide, underscoring the rapid expansion of the country’s international tourism sector.
The recognition comes amid sustained growth in visitor arrivals and increasing international interest in El Salvador’s beaches, cultural heritage, nature and tourism experiences. UN Tourism’s own country profile has previously documented substantial growth in international arrivals, including a 37.6% increase during the first half of 2024 compared with the same period a year earlier.
El Salvador has also been identified by the World Economic Forum as the fastest-growing Travel & Tourism Development Index performer in the Americas between the 2019 and 2024 editions, reflecting progress in the country’s broader tourism-development indicators.
The latest recognition adds to El Salvador’s growing profile as an international destination and highlights the momentum of its tourism industry as the country continues promoting its natural attractions, cultural identity and expanding tourism infrastructure.
