El Salvador Attracts French Investment as Trade Minister Nicolas Forissier Arrives with Business Delegation

France is deepening its economic engagement with El Salvador as Nicolas Forissier, France’s Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade and Economic Attractiveness, begins an official visit accompanied by French business leaders and investors. The visit is scheduled for September 17–18, 2026, according to France’s Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

The delegation is expected to explore new investment opportunities and partnerships, highlighting the growing commercial dimension of relations between the two countries. French diplomatic representatives in El Salvador have previously pointed to increasing interest from French companies in sectors including construction, tourism, and other expanding areas of the Salvadoran economy.

The visit is particularly notable because it marks the return of a high-level French government official to El Salvador after more than a decade. Forissier’s agenda reflects France’s broader effort to strengthen economic ties with Latin American markets and connect French companies with local business ecosystems.

French companies are already participating in projects in El Salvador. Among them is POMA, which is involved in the installation of the infrastructure for the first phase of the Metrocable connecting Mejicanos with San Salvador’s Historic Center.

Bilateral cooperation has also expanded beyond trade. In February 2026, Vice President Félix Ulloa met with Jérémie Pellet, Director General of Expertise France, to discuss opportunities for further collaboration, adding another dimension to the countries’ growing institutional relationship.

Forissier, who has served as France’s Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade and Economic Attractiveness since 2025, has emphasized the importance of connecting French companies with international markets. His visit to El Salvador places investment, business partnerships, and economic cooperation at the center of a new stage in France–El Salvador relations.
