Five young Salvadorans are returning to El Salvador with strengthened leadership skills, new knowledge, and international connections after completing the Study of the U.S. Institutes (SUSI) program.
Among the participants is Kenia García, who, together with four other young Salvadorans, took part in the U.S. Department of State’s SUSI program, an initiative focused on academic development, cultural exchange, leadership, and community engagement.
During several weeks in the United States, the participants combined academic activities with cultural experiences, community service, and opportunities to interact with American peers. The experience provided them with new perspectives while encouraging cross-cultural understanding and leadership development.
According to the U.S. Embassy in El Salvador, the young participants are returning home with new friendships, broader perspectives, and renewed motivation to contribute positively to their communities.
Their participation highlights the value of U.S.-El Salvador educational and cultural exchanges, creating opportunities for young Salvadorans to develop skills and international networks that can support future community initiatives.
The return of the five participants marks the continuation of an experience designed not only to expand academic knowledge, but also to empower young leaders to apply what they learned in their communities in El Salvador.
